Cloud Megafile Transfer System
Vendor Portal

Overview
Visual effects (VFX) production is a critical part of bringing films and TV shows to life, handling and editing massive data files, traditionally managed onsite due to security concerns and file transfer complexities. The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the entertainment industry, halting VFX production and exposing the need for remote collaboration solutions. Artist Anywhere identified this gap and introduced an innovative global production pipeline system designed to enable secure remote VFX collaboration.
Problem Space
-
Create proprietary file management system
-
Tailor solutions specifically for the unique demands of the Media & Entertainment industry
-
Key question: How might we visually represent and simplify the transfer of "assets" (groups of files) in a way that resonates with M&E workflows? How might we clearly differentiate the handling experience between "assets" and individual file transfers?

Understanding the Working Environment
As a UX Designer, it’s important that I understand how the software being offered is operating to be able to produce the best frontend experience. I got together with the Director of Pipeline Services to understand the operations of the cloud file transfer and backend structures. By going through this exercise, I was able to understand all programs involved in the transferring process.

Asset vs File Handling Experience
I solved the asset (group of files) vs file handling challenge by placing radio buttons to navigate between the two different view modes.

Transfer Queue
Transfer queue contains three different page navigations: Active, History, and Syncs. Each tab can manage and control active transfer queue items, completed transfer items, and file syncing schedules.
